For enhanced safety, the front seat shoulder belts of the Hyundai Elantra N Line are height-adjustable to accommodate a wide variety of driver and passenger heights. A better fit can prevent injuries and the increased comfort also encourages passengers to buckle up. The Alfa Romeo Giulia doesn’t offer height-adjustable seat belts.

In the past twenty years hundreds of infants and young children have died after being left in vehicles, usually by accident. When turning the vehicle off, drivers of the Elantra N Line are reminded to check the back seat if they opened the rear door before starting out. The Giulia doesn’t offer a back seat reminder.

Both the Elantra N Line and Giulia have rear cross-traffic warning, but the Elantra N Line has Rear Cross-Traffic Collision-Avoidance Assist (automatically applies the brakes) to better prevent a collision when backing near traffic. The Giulia’s Rear Cross-Path Detection doesn’t automatically brake.

Both the Elantra N Line and the Giulia have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, side-impact head airbags, front seatbelt pretensioners, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, daytime running lights, lane departure warning systems, blind spot warning systems, rearview cameras, rear cross-path warning and driver alert monitors.

The Hyundai Elantra N Line achieved a “Top Safety Pick” rating from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) for the 2026 model year. This recognition was based on its impressive performance in the small overlap frontal crash test, updated moderate overlap front crash test, updated side impact crash test, headlight evaluations, pedestrian crash prevention testing, and vehicle-to-vehicle crash prevention testing. The Giulia has not yet been fully evaluated by the IIHS for 2026.

The Elantra N Line comes with a full 5-year/60,000-mile basic warranty, which covers the entire car and includes 24-hour roadside assistance. The Giulia’s 4-year/50,000-mile basic warranty expires 1 year or 10,000 miles sooner.

Hyundai’s powertrain warranty covers the Elantra N Line 6 years and 50,000 miles longer than Alfa Romeo covers the Giulia. Any repair needed on the engine, transmission, axles, joints or driveshafts is fully covered for 10 years or 100,000 miles. Coverage on the Giulia ends after only 4 years or 50,000 miles.

The Elantra N Line’s corrosion warranty is 2 years longer than the Giulia’s (7 vs. 5 years).

Hyundai pays for scheduled maintenance on the Elantra N Line for 3 years and 36,000 miles. Hyundai will pay for oil changes, tire rotations, air filter replacements, cabin filter replacement, brake fluid replacement, inspections, and any other required maintenance. Alfa Romeo doesn’t pay scheduled maintenance for the Giulia.

There are almost 9 times as many Hyundai dealers as there are Alfa Romeo dealers, which makes it much easier should you ever need service under the Elantra N Line’s warranty.

On the EPA test cycle the Elantra N Line gets better mileage than the Giulia:

To lower fuel costs and make buying fuel easier, the Hyundai Elantra N Line uses regular unleaded gasoline. The Giulia requires premium for maximum efficiency, which can cost on average about 84.9 cents more per gallon.

The Elantra N Line offers a standard sequential manual gearbox (SMG). With no clutch pedal to worry about and a fully automatic mode, an SMG is much more efficient than a conventional automatic but just as easy to drive. The Giulia doesn’t offer an SMG or a conventional manual transmission.

The Elantra N Line stops much shorter than the Giulia:

For better traction, the Elantra N Line has larger tires than the Giulia (235/40R18 vs. 225/45R18). The Elantra N Line’s tires are larger than the largest tires available on the Giulia (235/40R18 vs. 225/40R19).

The Elantra N Line’s tires provide better handling because they have a lower 40 series profile (height to width ratio) that provides a stiffer sidewall than the Giulia’s standard 45 series tires.

The Elantra N Line handles at .91 G’s, while the Giulia Q4 pulls only .80 G’s of cornering force in a Motor Trend skidpad test.

The Elantra N Line executes Motor Trend’s “Figure Eight” maneuver quicker than the Giulia (26.3 seconds @ .66 average G’s vs. 27.1 seconds @ .66 average G’s).

The Hyundai Elantra N Line may be more efficient, handle and accelerate better because it weighs about 500 to 600 pounds less than the Alfa Romeo Giulia.

The Elantra N Line has 4 cubic feet more passenger volume than the Giulia (99.4 vs. 95.4).

The Elantra N Line has 2 inches more front headroom, .4 inches more front shoulder room, 2.9 inches more rear legroom and 2 inches more rear shoulder room than the Giulia.

The Elantra N Line has a much larger trunk than the Giulia (14.2 vs. 12 cubic feet).

To make loading groceries and cargo easier when your hands are full, the Elantra N Line’s trunk can be opened just by waiting momentarily behind the back bumper, leaving your hands completely free. The Giulia doesn’t offer a hands-free gesture to open its trunk, forcing you to put cargo down if your hands are full.

A group of representative automotive journalists from North America selected the Elantra as the 2021 North American Car of the Year. The Giulia has never been chosen.

The Hyundai Elantra outsold the Alfa Romeo Giulia by over 108 to one during 2025.
